Child maltreatment is categorized into following types:
Physical Abuse – It can involve any act that may cause any injury or trauma to another person bodily. In most of the cases, children are the victims of these physical abuses, but adults can also be victims of physical abuses as in cases of domestic violence at home or workplace aggression.
Sexual Abuse – It involves abuse by an adult or older adolescent which abuses a child for sexual stimulation. Child sexual abuse (CSA) include forms asking or pressuring a child to engage in sexual intercourse (regardless of its outcome), displaying pornography to a child to seduce.
Psychological abuse – It also referred as emotional abuse or mental abuse characterized by a person exposing another person to behavior that may result in anxiety, psychological trauma or chronic depression.
Neglect – Child neglect is a failure of parents or another person with the responsibility of a child to provide food, shelter, clothing, medical facility or supervision.
